Charcoal on Canvas
Workshop, 15-16th February, 2020
Fully booked: Waiting list only
In this workshop, Kathy will teach participants how to produce a realist charcoal drawing on canvas, primarily using tone rather than line, in order to ‘sculpt’ the picture. Kathy will conduct on-going demonstrations and assistance to students throughout the two days. This includes showing participants how prepare the subject image and canvas with grids in order to accurately transpose the image to the canvas; and providing them with opportunities to watch her create a finished picture, as she explains her technique. On the final day, Kathy will demonstrate how to seal the finished charcoal picture, and participants will do likewise!
Materials included in the cost are: Canvas up to 20” by 30”, Charcoal, thick and thin, Kneedable eraser, Paper stumps and use of a Long steel ruler and easel.
Cost: $200 for 2 days. Time: 9.30am-4pm. Workshop numbers are limited to 12, but a minimum of 7 people will be required for the workshop to go ahead. Confirmation will be given 2 weeks out from the workshop. Cancellations can be made up to 2 weeks prior. We ask for a 50% deposit on booking.
