What you will need to bring:
Photo/s either printed or most preferably bring a laptop or other (ie: iPad or tablet or smartphone), ideally with a gridding program or app. On my laptop I use Corel Photoshop which is the best I’ve been able to find as you can adjust the size of the grid to the same size as your canvas. A great app for the android phones is Grid Drawing Assistant. For iPad a good app is Art Grid by Jacksons, but the apps continually change, so do a search and see what you can find. Choose a simple subject, as it is always best to do an easy thing well rather than a difficult subject poorly and rushed.
Plan for the day:
Discussion on subject selection and gridding options.
Demonstration of gridding, then students can prepare their subject and canvas.
Demonstration of drawing using tone rather than line to sculpt the picture.
Following this I’ll do further demonstrations and offer student assistance.
On the final day I’ll demonstrate how to seal the charcoal.
Welcoming cuppa and set up at 9.30am on Saturday morning; we will stop for 1 hour at 12.30pm for lunch (there are many little cafés, and of course the bakery, available for lunch) afternoon tea at 3pm.
