Intensive 5 Day Realist Painting

Workshop in Oils — 17-21st February, 2020

Cost: $600

This intensive five day realist painting workshop is suitable for participants of all skill-levels. If you are interested in creating representational realist art, can not do much more than a stick figure, and would like to rapidly transform your skills and increase your confidence, this workshop is for you.

Kathy will teach you how she works through realist paintings, demonstrating and teaching techniques, ranging from selecting photographic images, to selecting focal points and manipulating light in the image through the use of photo-editing, to transferring the image accurately onto canvas, and undertaking the actual painting process — all to capture the movement, colour and light of your subjects, as well as their spirit.

You will learn techniques which will help you draw with much greater confidence, as well as learn how to manipulate colour and light to depict any subject with vibrant energy. The five days will give you the opportunity to create two paintings (one simple image, and one more challenging), and to reinforce what you have learned. You may use your own images (any subject), or choose from some of Kathy’s.
